Antiperspirant for men and women: is there a difference?

Sweat glands in men and women work on the same principle. The difference between "men’s" and "women’s" antiperspirants usually lies in fragrance, packaging and marketing.

Short answer

Choose by the task rather than the label: how heavily you sweat, how sensitive your skin is and whether the way of applying it suits you. OKEY is universal and suits both women and men.

Sweat works the same way

Both men and women have eccrine and apocrine sweat glands in the underarm area. An antiperspirant acts on the release of sweat where it is applied, and this mechanism does not depend on sex.

How much a person sweats varies from one individual to another: it depends on personal traits, activity, climate and other factors, not only on sex.

Where the difference usually lies

Products for men and for women most often differ in fragrance, bottle design and the way advertising presents them. The principle of how the antiperspirant works stays the same.

So a "for him" or "for her" label says little about whether a product will handle your particular task.

What really matters when choosing

It is more useful to weigh a few practical factors that affect results and comfort.

  • How heavily you sweat and whether wet marks on clothing bother you.
  • Whether there is hair in the area: the product needs to reach the skin, so apply a thin, even layer.
  • How often you shave or remove hair: after hair removal, OKEY is applied no sooner than 48 hours later.
  • How sensitive your skin is and how it reacts to fragrance and alcohol.

Why OKEY suits everyone

OKEY was created as a universal product for women and men. It contains no fragrance, so it does not clash with your perfume and does not mask odour with a scent.

The rules are the same for everyone: in the evening, on clean and completely dry skin, in a thin layer, then wash off the residue in the morning with water and mild soap.

Can two people share one bottle?

The roller applicator touches the skin directly, so from a hygiene point of view it is better for everyone to have their own bottle. If you do decide to share, apply the product only to clean, undamaged skin and close the bottle tightly after use.
